The church was bought in 2014 together with the adjacent hall (known both as Barony St John buildings) by The Scottish Centre for Personal Safety. The charity managed to reuse the hall as their charity centre, however, the church remained vacant despite their efforts to save it. A feasibility study was made, and community feedback was gathered to determine the future use of the building, a music venue able to fit up to 1.000 people. After great efforts from the group to get the project going but not achieving this, the charity sold the building in 2021 to a new owner.
