Africa House

This B listed building was originally built for the British Empire Exhibition (1938) in Bellahouston Park as the South Africa Pavilion. It was supposed to be a temporary structure, but after the exhibition, ICI Nobel bought it, transported it and rebuilt it in Ardeer, North Ayrshire.

After being applied for permission to demolish the building due to its restoration being supposedly unviable, but the application was withdrawn after Friends of Stevenston ran a campaign and gathered signatures to save the building (2021). The future of this building is uncertain, but halting its demolition is a first step to its reuse.
